Choosing the Location of the Industry:
Selection of the Exact Site

After the selection of the particular region, the problem of the choice of the most convenient site is relatively easy. Now, the two most important considerations to be taken into account are :-

Price of Land

It is an important factor while choosing the exact site for locating the business because high price of land may wipe out the advantages provided by the availability of the other factors. If it is proposed to lease out the land then the question of rent and taxes must be considered as such charges will add to the working expenses. Also, the plot of land being considered must be big enough to meet the needs of future expansion of the business.

CREDAI (Confederation of Real Estate Developer's Associations of India) is the apex body of the organized real estate developers/builders across India. 18 state/city level association viz. Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chattisgarh, Delhi-NCR, Goa, Gujrat, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharastra, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamilnadu, Uttar Pradesh & West Bengal spread over across 17 states of India are members of CREDAI with over 3,500 individual members developers encompassing over 60% of the organised private state/cities in the country.

Disposal of Waste

For many factories, disposal of waste is an important consideration for selecting the exact site. Disposal of liquid waste requires proper sewer-connections or river outlets. While disposal of solid waste needs availability of a dump or an extra piece of land for the purpose. If the waste has an offensive odour, the problem must be solved before production begins, otherwise it will adversely affect the health and well-being of the employees.

Guidelines for proper functioning and upkeep of disposal sites.
